Maybird Lakes 2024
The Red Pine portion of the trail is beautiful. Lots of aspens. Some were at peak color, but many others were just starting to transition. Not many Big Tooth Maple on this hike. The bridge to Maybird was broken, but still passable. After crossing the bridge, we saw very few people. The upper lake was completely dry, and the lower lake has receded considerably and was probably only a few feet deep. Nice views of Pfeifferhorn Peak from the lakes, but the lakes themselves are not that scenic. The trail up is nice, but the best portions are shared with the Red Pine trail. I wouldn't go up to Maybird again.
