Packwood Lake Trail #78
Overview
This is an easy to moderate one way trail in Washington within the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. It is a beautiful trek through an old growth forest that has several landscape changes in a short distance. At the end you'll discover the little 'village' constructed by the company that built the dam back in the 60's. There are several campsites, a cabin, and lifeguard station (closed to public) as well as a public composting toilet at the end of this beautiful trail.
Getting Started
There is a large gravel parking lot at the trailhead. Head to the end of the parking lot where you'll find the kiosk and start of the trail.
Taking Children
(10/10): It's a beautiful, easy hike year round, with the added bonus of being able to go swimming at the end in the summer months.
