This hike was constant bushwhacking with machetes through the rain forest. While slow going at times, it was worthwhile to reach a mountain gorilla family. We observed the family from a distance to maintain safety for the humans and the gorillas. The area also has jungle elephants. There was evidence of them recently passing by in the area, but I did not see any of them.
