super steep and super hard entire way to lower lake, esp for someone who doesn’t get to hike a ton…but it was worth it. i managed the scamper up to the viewpoint above lower lake, and def recommend doing that for the view. getting back down to the car was a knee-breaker, but take the day, take your time and enjoy!!

This is a nice hike in Telluride from Lawson Hill. Got to do Some birding and some elking. Be careful for mountain bikers.

The first lake is the most scenic with it’s amazing turquoise blue color but the next 2 lakes are also beautiful with great reflections and above-tree line scenery.

It was a nice easy and beautiful hike. We saw lost of moose poop, saw squirrels and snow shoe hare rabbit. Also saw 2 bull moose in a far distance.

Beautiful hike with 3 lakes and wonderful views. High elevation is biggest challenge but not overly steep.
We parked at the intermediate area as The last section of the road is narrow and rocky, a 4WD Jeep style vehicle is recommended to drive it. Our starting elevation was just under 11,900’ and we reached 12,800’at the 3rd lake. There’s a lot of sheep in the area so watch your step.

If you’re looking for a more challenging hike and beautiful views, this is a good option. Paused my hike halfway through and didn’t restart until later, total rookie mistake. This total elevation gain is 2,000 feet.
Take Bear Creek trail out of town. Just before the falls take the Wasatch Trail (clearly marked) then to East Fork Bear Creek Trail (clearly marked). Beautiful valley at 11,000 feet with amazing views.

I will start by saying this … it’s not a one way ! I would not say the trail is difficult but sketchy and some areas. The road is fairly easy with one part where you’re on a very narrow stretch of road on the side of the mountain which made it difficult for passing other vehicles.
The views are amazing you will not be disappointed!

The upstream route was challenging in places. It was necessary to hang outward by the arms in places due to somewhat overhanging rock. The downstream route is easier.

Beautiful!! We hiked to the saddle above the lake. 360 degree views. Vibrant blue lake. Views the entire way with a waterfall and stream running along the side. The grade was moderate the whole hike. Will definitely do again.

We lucked out with great weather in early July. There were clouds and a light rain on the way up to keep us cool. Sunny on the way back down. I'd imagine that it would be very hot if the sun was out the whole time. There were quite a few folks on the trail and at the falls. It is very popular for visitors and locals in Telluride. Still, we enjoyed it and our secluded lunch on the creek near the falls.

Just an all out fun drive.. yea you do need a high clearance 4x4.. no your grand Cherokee or Lexus is not the vehicle for this trail. It’s narrow and steep in areas and has some very tight switch back turns. You can run engineer to Lake City turn on to Cinnamon pass and make an even longer trip.. it is a great loop to run!

This is an awesome trail area.. we jeeper to the top of Yankeeboy Basin then chose the hike to Blue Lakes .. you can hike to
MT Sneffles from here as well.. 13,000 ft we got rain and ice pellets for about 20 mins .. the trail up to the summit does have a difficult section that is slick and steep .. a good pair of hiking shoes is recommended!

Amazing views the entire time. I would have stopped more often to record video and photos but we were racing sunlight. I would go 2-3 hours before sunset to get some spectacular views of the sun beaming through the clouds onto the mountain sides. Also, look out for deer. They aren’t afraid to stay within 10 yards of the vehicle.

birds eye view. Went by waterfalls and box canyon and were able to take 2 pugs on the trail. The bridge over box canon was scary for the dogs as you could see below you!

Scenery is 5 stars, actual hiking is 3 stars. Depending on where you park on the road up to Bridal Veil, you’ve got some road hiking (hitch a ride up with a passerby). Then, once atop the falls, it’s more road hiking, albeit with no cars, all the way to the lake. It’s a very rocky path. Easy to get off route as there are several other old mining roads around and none are signed. Gaia GPS to the rescue!

Excellent family friendly hike up to the falls. There is a great spot about midway to have a snack break with incredible views of the mountains looking behind you. Avalanche remnants are there, excellent scenery and then you end with the waterfalls that are so refreshing after a moderated hike!

I don't see why this trail is rated difficult... it's several switchbacks, but the elevation gain is not too terribly difficult. The views looking back on the town of Telluride are priceless. Great views of Bridal Veil falls as well.

This hiker only modification to the popular Village Trail takes you directly to or from the Mountain Village core and the Gondola. The very bottom is in the Telski Bike Park so use caution in this area including leashing up a dog.

In Telluride the Bear Creek trail. After 2.5 miles a gorgeous water falls. You can use switch backs to hike to the top. We steep sections and single track but fairly moderate to easy.

I started out at 950 am and hiked the Ouray end of the Dallas trail out and back. Very good for the most part. The was one tree I needed to crawl under and several more to climb over. Most of the streams were easy crossings. Moonshine Park was fabulous with great views of the Cimarrons. I wanted to get better pictures of the Sneffels range so extended the hike about 1/3 mile up a hill into a small park. Takes almost as long to come down 3000 ft as going up because of steep switchbacks near the beginning. Finished at 345. My wife and pup picked me up at the trailhead and we went into Ridgway, True Grit Cafe, for a well-earned Salmon, cranberry, almond, and blue cheese salad and a lot of tea. Highly recommended!
