Backbone Trail is a unique treasure for Louisiana. 350 foot hills give great views of the surrounding landscape, and a clear creek provides a good drinking water source. Great camping area about halfway through, on hilltop overlooking a bluff. Add to the great views by taking the Turpentine Trail intersection and ending your hike at Longleaf Vista, if your team is able to leave cars at both trailheads.

Me and six of my friends from high school, 30 years ago, all bought Hawk 250 on off road dirt bikes. Went down the North Loop trail 32 miles long. Trails are great. They have all types of conditions from sharp turns with downward drops, mud holes, drops and hills. Fun trail for a medium skilled rider.

Super near hike, little placards up every 100yards or so giving little fun facts about local vegetation. There are bathrooms at the start of the trail & there is a great picnic area with a gazebo. Two great Buttes and a very small waterfall, this hike was easy (my pregnant wife and I did it and I was In Crocks) paved trail 80% and quite a bit of Elivation change

This was terrible! Trail was very overgrown and it leads to a dead end. Nothing there! Not worth all the bushwhacking! Will not be going back. There was nothing to see.

The views of Kisatchie bayou near the end are some of the best scenery in a Louisiana. Clear water, babbling brook sounds, and white sand beaches make this trail unique. Do not go during or after rainfall, as the canopy prevents the soil from drying out.

Excellent trail to hike. Slight elevation that are rare on Louisiana trails. Boulders, sand, and several water crossings make this trail unique and challenging. There are ways to avoid getting your feet wet crossing streams.
