Most of this is listed as “challenging” or on Haynes Ridge “very challenging” by the state parks themselves.
There are sections of this hike that are steep and a bit scary for someone afraid of heights. And 3 places where our smallish hiking dog jumped and missed (waist high is higher than she can stand on back legs … and she almost got it). Still, it’s part of the adventure!
We did not complete all of Haynes ridge but did do the whole loop surrounding it - South Prong camping area through North Prong and back.

It was a nice morning hike with a leashed dog.
Saw only 2 other groups of hikers. Had pretty much a whole bison herd (20 or so) cross the path at a safe distance that we could watch from, which was cool. But sections are kinda canyon like and could accidentally get you closer to these big guys than you would want if you met one by surprise.

Lots of technical areas. Some flat stretches and some steep up/down stretches too. Amazing views.

About 3 miles of the trail are cut out wide trails, the rest is normal single track . Warm weather brought a lot of people which made parts seem pretty crowded. A fair amount of litter was present... due to the large amounts of people. Over all a great hike with about a mile road walk .

Great easy hike. We started near Lake Theo and went to the natural bridge at the end. Beautiful landscape around us

A great hike. Starts with a good climb to the top then flattens out before you head down. Don’t be fooled by heading down and hiking flat. It’s hot hot hot. You will need lots of water
