What I like about sanitas is it’s mostly locals that traffic it compared to Chautauqua park.
There are three entrances. Valley view drive, a cedar brook and sunshine canyon. This makes it so people are coming in from many entrances very cool. Also you can come up from the other side via lions den trail

Did this with my friend Eric. We started from South Mesa Trailhead and made sure to hit South Boulder Peak before finishing at Sanitas.

Super fun! Left before sunrise to try to make it to the top by sunrise but overestimated my speed. I don’t hike very often so my speed is just under average. It took me just under two hours to go counter-clockwise to get to get to the top. I’d definitely recommend going clockwise, my knees are aching at how steep the downhill was! There were a few scrambles across flat rock, but most of the difficult part was large “steps” made from rocks.
Overall super fun, and I’ll definitely be doing it again.

If you aren’t used to hiking, this one could be a little difficult. Lots of rock stairs and steeps/ loose gravel.

Head up service road on enchanted Mesa trail into forest of pine trail. Connected up with many other trails. Easy 2 mile trail.

Hike from Chataqua trailhead, direct ascent up and over the flatirons, then to Saddle Rock and back down to Gregory Canyon and back along baseline to Chataqua.

Beautiful morning hike. Cool views of the shifting sun light along the ridge. The Sanitas Valley trail was clear with little to no snow. The Dakota Valley trail was covered in compact snow with small patches of ice. Spikes not necessary but would have been helpful in some sections.

So much climbing but the view was great. Parking was tricky and busy but other than that very fun.

Beautiful, heavily trafficked loop on the 1st and 2nd flatirons with a great view of the 3rd.

If you don’t have a lot of time and you want to get up in the mountains, this is a great loop. Beautiful part of the Flatirons.

This is not an ray hike. “Moderate” as NPS marked it on the signs is a better description. The trail has a good incline most of the time and once it veers off the Flatiron Loop it include a rock scramble. The views are Ok, pretty crowded on the weekend

Steep uphill climbing many rocks and some slick rocks, even a ladder about 3/4 of the way up. Beautiful views at the top.

This was the first hike I have done in Boulder. The trail is nice, but was a little snowy and muddy after the recent snows. The view from the top was alright, but nothing amazing given that it was reasonably difficult. Doing the loop clockwise was nice and I would recommend it. We didn't come across too many people after leaving the meadows on a sunny Friday.

The first part was paved and slightly uphill. It eventually got you to the Royal Arch trailhead. From there, it was very challenging. Terrain included very rocky trail with steep sections of uphill scramble and downhill as well. Hiking poles recommended. Excellent view from the top and Royal Arch is beautiful.

Moderate to difficult with a steep climb for much of the way. Well worth it in the end though with spectacular views of Boulder and surrounding area.
